Congolese president, Joseph Kabila says he’s ready to dialogue.
This announcement was made as he visited South Africa for the 10th session of the South Africa-DRC bi-national commission.
Kabila says the main objective of the dialogue will be to involve actors of the electoral process in the organisation of the long awaited elections.
According an agreement signed between the government and the opposition in late 2016 , the presidential election in Congo s is expected to hold before the end of 2017.
South African President Jacob Zuma says he has observed that the DRC is now “politically stable” and that the security situation has “improved”.
“We congratulate you, Mr. President, on the progress achieved so far, and the way in which you have led this process. The people of the DRC must determine and decide what will be the future of their domestic policy”, said Jacob Zuma, the President of South Africa.
South Africa is one of the main economic partners of the DRC on the continent. Pretoria also signed a deal to obtain 2,500 MW from the Congolese Inga III dam
